Duniter software
Duniter is the blockchain software powering the Äž1 currency, running version 2 since March 8, 2026. You will find developer and user documentation in the Duniter documentation section, as well as documentation for part of the ecosystem.
Libre Money
Libre money is a concept introduced in 2010 by the Relative Theory of Money (RTM). It has a precise definition that you can explore in the Libre Money section. More and more people use the term "libre money" to refer to local currencies or cryptocurrencies. We do not cover these topics here, and focus on the precise definition given by the RTM.
Äž1 currency
Äž1 (pronounced "june") is the first libre money as defined by the RTM. It is a real-world experiment with more than 6000 co-creating members. You will find all the technical information about Äž1 in the Äž1 currency section. For practical information about its usage, please visit https://monnaie-libre.fr/.
Web of trust
The web of trust in the Äž1 currency, made possible by the Duniter software, is an interesting innovation addressing the need for a peer-to-peer identity system. It is a central element of the Duniter/Äž1 project but is independent from the concept of libre money. For this reason, you will find related information in a dedicated section: Web of trust.
